Manchester United legend Edwin van der Sar has dismissed suggestions of a return to Old Trafford as director of football by pointing out he’s “not finished” his job with Ajax..
The fifty one – year – old Dutch defender had 6 years at Manchester United prior to he declared his retirement in 2011. It will most likely frustrate Sir Alex Ferguson permanently he did not sign Van der Sar earlier in his career, and I remember when Stretford End asked him to remain on for one more season.
Van der Sar came back to Ajax in a behind the scenes role soon following hanging the gloves, and he still serves as chairman. He’s been a part of several contracts involving Manchester United recently, including with Antony, Lisandro Martinez and Erik 10 Hag.
Reports earlier this week indicated United had made contact with their former goalkeeper regarding a position at the club, though Van der Sar has denied those claims, stating he is not done with Ajax just yet.
Van der Sar stated in an interview with the Times that : “It hasn’t been so near.
“I have a great connection with the board and I’d an excellent six years in Manchester, but I am not done yet.”
The reality that our brand new players have begun from the ground this season adds to the joy of Van der Sar signing up for 10 Hag at United, and we also have to think about the fact that John Murtough is fairly new at the club.
United are fifth in the English Premier League and are hoping to get into the top four prior to the World Cup starts next month..
