Ronaldo has been the subject of much scrutiny this season, having pushed for a move away from Manchester United prior to the season before falling out of favor with new manager Erik ten Hag.
Despite being heavily linked with a move to Manchester City, the Portugal captain returned to Old Trafford in August 2021 on the advice of his former manager, who he revealed is in agreement with the club’s stalling since the Scotsman’s retirement in 2013..
in an extensive interview with Piers Morgan Uncensored, Ronaldo also questioned United’s decision to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with Ralf Rangnick last season, while admitting a change of direction is necessary.
“I went with my heart,” he explained. “‘It’s impossible for you to come to Manchester City,’ said [Sir Alex], and I said, ‘OK, Boss.’
“I haven’t seen any change in the club since Sir Alex left. There had been no progress. After firing Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer], they hire sport director Ralf Rangnick, which no one understands. This individual is not even a coach.
“Bringing in a sporting director at a large club like Manchester United surprised not only me, but the entire world.”
He went on: “I believe the fans should be informed of the truth. I only want what is best for the club. This is why I attend Manchester United games.
“But you have some internal issues that prevent [us] from reaching the same heights as City, Liverpool, and now Arsenal. In my opinion, a club of this size should be at the top of the tree, but they aren’t.
“As Picasso said, you have to destroy it before you can rebuild it, and if they start with me, that’s fine with me.
“I adore Manchester United, and the fans are always on my side. But if they want to do things differently, they must change a lot of things..
“Sir Alex is aware. Everyone is aware. People who don’t see it are blind because they don’t want to see it.”
