Cristiano Ronaldo slammed Manchester United and Erik ten Hag in an interview; Ronaldo also said of former teammates Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney: “They are not my friends; they are my coworkers. We had fun together, but we didn’t eat dinner together.”
Gary Neville believes Cristiano Ronaldo has “no way back” at Manchester United following his scathing criticism of the club and manager Erik ten Hag.
Neville, who was chastised by Ronaldo during an interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV, has told Sky Sports that he does not see the Portugal forward returning to the club..
“No, and I don’t think he wants a way back,” Neville said, adding, “If he wanted a way back, he wouldn’t have done this interview.” He knew it would make headlines and lead to the demise of his Manchester United club.”
Manchester United has not yet stated what action they will take in response to Ronaldo’s interview.
“I’m curious what Manchester United are doing because the reality is that they know they have to terminate Cristiano’s contract or they basically set a precedent where any player can criticize them in the future,” Neville added..
I agree with some of what Cristiano has said, and many Manchester United fans will agree with much of what Cristiano has said, but the reality is that if you’re an employee within a business and say those things, your employment must be terminated, and Man United must do so in the coming days.
“Cristiano probably wants it as well, but it didn’t have to end that way. They could have gotten together a couple of weeks ago and navigated a path through potentially choppy seas to the shore, but that didn’t happen; instead, they’ve both backed themselves into a corner.”
