Former Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has admitted that ‘everyone knew’ Marcus Rashford would be a success at Old Trafford when he first joined the Reds..
Rashford has been in brilliant form for Erik ten Hag’s side this season, scoring 27 goals and assisting nine times in all competitions. After picking up a knock on Sunday, the 25-year-old, who won his third major honour with the Reds after lifting the Carabao Cup last month, was forced to withdraw from England’s squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers.
Despite this, he is expected to be available for United’s next competitive game against Newcastle, and the forward will be eager to continue his incredible scoring streak between now and the end of the season.
Rashford has thrived this season under Ten Hag’s management after a difficult individual campaign last season.
Despite the fact that Rashford never played alongside Van Persie for United, the Dutchman was full of praise for the England ace, claiming that the academy graduate is in the “form of his life” and playing with joy. He also stated that he had no doubts Rashford was eager to continue improving.
“You can see he’s in perhaps the best shape of his life,” Van Persie told club media. “From the way he plays, he appears to be in good shape.” He appears to be very focused. He appears to be having a good time. He’s on a mission right now.

Van Persie, who is currently coaching with Feyenoord, went on to say that it would be ‘fun’ to work with Rashford, claiming that the 25-year-old is playing with confidence and benefiting from Ten Hag’s coaching.
“From a coach’s perspective, working with a player like Rashford looks really fun,” he added. However, it works both ways. I’m sure Rashford is also pleased with Erik [ten Hag].
You can see him improving and becoming more confident; with him, you know that almost every game he plays, no matter who, he will score a goal or be decisive in most matches.
It’s also entertaining to watch from a fan standpoint, because this is the Rashford we’d like to see every week, every three or four days, so he’s bringing a lot of joy.”
