Nottingham Forest are reportedly interested in signing Keylor Navas from Paris Saint-Germain to replace the injured Dean Henderson..
Henderson suffered a thigh injury during Forest’s 2-0 win over rivals Leicester last Saturday, but he was able to finish the game.
However, scan results later revealed that the injury was more serious than previously thought, and the Manchester United loanee will now be out for at least four weeks.
This could not have come at a worse time for Forest, who are fighting relegation as well as a two-leg Carabao Cup semi-final against Manchester United..
Though Henderson could have missed those games regardless, the 25-year-injury old’s appears to have forced Steve Cooper to look for a replacement keeper who is an upgrade over back-up Wayne Hennessey.
According to The Athletic, Forest is interested in serial Champions League winner Navas, who is available for transfer after falling down PSG’s pecking order.
The Costa Rican international is best known for his five-year stint at Real Madrid, where he won three Champions Leagues in a row as well as the La Liga title.
He moved to Paris in 2019 and has since won two Ligue 1 titles and advanced to the UCL final in 2020..
The 36-year-old has 165 clean sheets in 453 appearances in his long career and is currently under contract with the French giants until 2024.
Forest are not the only club interested in Navas, with Premier League rivals Bournemouth and Saudi Arabian Al-Nassr also interested, with the latter offering him the chance to reunite with Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
Forest’s next game is against the Cherries on Saturday, which could be a relegation six-pointer, before the first leg of their semi-final against United on Wednesday..
