Mohamed Salah says he is “proud” to have surpassed Robbie Fowler as Liverpool’s sixth all-time leading goalscorer, but admits he wants to catch Steven Gerrard and Billy Liddell..
Salah scored his 183rd goal for Liverpool in Saturday’s 3-2 Premier League victory over Nottingham Forest at Anfield, tying him with Toxteth-born Fowler. The Egyptian’s latest remarkable Anfield achievement comes despite having played 71 fewer times than the player dubbed ‘God’ by fans, who appeared 369 times for Liverpool over two separate spells.
Salah’s two-goal haul at Elland Road in the 6-1 win over Leeds United saw him cement his name as the highest-scoring left-footer in Premier League history, and weeks after his brace in the 7-0 thrashing of Manchester United saw him become the Reds’ all-time leading Premier League goalscorer. Fowler had been robbed of both records.
Salah expressed his desire to continue climbing Liverpool’s all-time goalscoring charts and etch his name into the club’s record books to beIN Sports after Saturday’s game at Anfield.

Salah’s winner against Forest, which came after Diogo Jota’s second-half brace, gave Jurgen Klopp’s team back-to-back Premier League victories for the first time since early March. It also kept their slim chances of qualifying for the Champions League next season alive.
“We had difficulty in the game for the first 15 or 20 minutes,” Salah added. “Thank God, we were able to win and achieve a favorable outcome… The important thing is that we got a good result, not who scored.
“These are life-or-death games for the teams fighting to avoid relegation, and they are all games.”
Gerrard is Liverpool’s all-time leading goalscorer with 186, just three more than Salah and Fowler. Liddell (228), Gordon Hodgson (241), Roger Hunt (285) and Ian Rush (346) follow.
