GIORGOS GIAKOUMAKIS has fueled speculation about a possible January transfer out of Celtic..
The Greek striker has attracted interest from clubs across Europe and beyond, and the Hoops could end up paying as much as £8 million for him.
Giakoumakis joined Celtic from VVV-Venlo in the summer of 2021, but his future has been uncertain since late last year.
He’s only 18 months into a five-year deal at Parkhead, but talks about a better deal stalled in late November.
Since then, transfer interest in Giakoumakis has increased.
J-League club with a lot of money Urawa Red Diamonds are in the mix and could make a big money move for Giakoumakis.
There is also interest from Italy, with Sampdoria expressing strong interest.
Denmark, Russia, and the United States have all expressed interest in the frontman.
Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has stated that he is “comfortable” with the exit talk surrounding Giakoumakis and fellow star Josip Juranovic, but Giakoumakis has now added fuel to the fire regarding a possible departure.
The striker came off the bench to score for the Hoops at the weekend, as he frequently does.
He scored deep into added time to give Celtic a 2-0 win over Kilmarnock in the Viaplay Cup semi-finals at Hampden.
Giakoumakis, on the other hand, has taken to social media with a rather cryptic post.
He wrote alongside a photo of himself celebrating his goal, “Enjoy every moment like it’s your last.”

Giakoumakis was involved in a contentious incident just before scoring.
On the other end, the striker collided with Killie’s Joe Wright in the box, with the latter insisting on a penalty kick.
Willie Collum, the referee, was unmoved, and VAR did not intervene either.
Rugby Park manager Derek McInnes was furious that his team was not given the opportunity to equalize from the spot, claiming it was a clear foul..
“I felt the penalty towards the end, Joe Wright’s been man-handled, and Giakoumakis can’t get to the ball,” he said.
“But he’s come through him, two arms wrapped around him… It’s a penalty shootout.
“I don’t understand why, the referee’s got a brilliant view, I don’t understand why it’s not a penalty.
“What’s the point of talking to the referee?
“The VAR should speak to the referee.”
