The position of Frenkie De Jong on a possible move to Manchester United has not changed..
Since manager Erik Ten Hag’s arrival from Ajax last summer, the Netherlands international has been heavily linked with a move to the Red Devils.
Ten Hag, who is desperate to reunite with De Jong, is said to be continuing to pursue his former midfielder despite having previously failed to sign the Dutchman.
Rumours linking the 20-time champions with Barcelona’s number 21 are already circulating ahead of the summer transfer window, but the player himself has put an end to any speculation that he could swap the Nou Camp for Old Trafford.
Speaking to the media after his team’s dramatic 2-1 win over rivals Real Madrid in La Liga on Sunday, De Jong addressed his future and revealed how much he wants to stay at Barcelona..
“No, I don’t think I’m going to make that step,” De Jong said after the game, according to Metro.
“You never know, but for the time being, I am very happy in Barcelona.”
