Bruno Guimaraes is playing with ankle problems, according to Eddie Howe, after struggling against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium..
The Brazil star was hit on the ankle during the Carabao Cup final at Wembley last weekend, just weeks after suffering a nasty injury against Fulham that required a week in a protective boot. But, as the season heats up, Howe is keeping a close eye on his midfielder.
Howe must prepare for the next two games without suspended midfielder Joelinton, who finally received a suspension after receiving 10 yellow cards. “There were a couple of knocks, but I don’t know 100%,” Howe said of Bruno’s injury and other scrapes at the Etihad.
I thought Bruno was still feeling the effects of the ankle injury he suffered last week.
But I don’t think it’s a long-term issue, and Joe got a stamp on his foot.”
In response to Joelinton’s suspension, Howe stated that it was unavoidable for him to be suspended: “Yeah, that was probably it, though I’m disappointed that it was today because, with only two games left before the international break, that’s going to be a long absence for him.
“I thought it was a harsh booking for him because he plays on the edge, he’s a fierce competitor, and he played very well today. We will undoubtedly miss him.”
