Danilo Pereira Explains Why PSG Lost The Champions League To Bayern Munich

It’s March, and Paris Saint-Germain is once again out of the UEFA Champions League after falling to Bayern Munich in the Round of 16..

Following a 1-0 loss in the first leg on February 14, the French giants went on to lose the second leg 2-0, for an aggregate loss of 3-0 to the Bundesliga side. PSG midfielder Danilo Pereira discussed the 180-minute difference between the two squads.

“I think [Bayern Munich] is a very physical team; they win a lot of duels,” Pereira told Paris Fans (h/t). “Today, we didn’t win many duels, and it’s difficult when we’re like that. “I’m at a loss for words.”

Furthermore, Pereira stated that the German giants were simply a stronger team, as evidenced by the depth of their squad that they could call on to help ice the game. PSG’s hopes were dashed when Serge Gnabry came off the bench..

“Yes, we must admit that Bayern was stronger than us,” Pereira added. “We had chances in the first half, but we didn’t score, and scoring in the Champions League is difficult. We won 2-0, and it’s difficult to go out like that in the Champions League.”

Now, PSG sporting advisor Luis Campos will need to use the next few months to reflect and plan his summer moves as the Ligue 1 side tries to get out of this funk of falling flat on their faces in the Round of 16 for the second time in a row..
