With a series of cryptic social media posts, Chelsea appear to have all but confirmed the transfer of Mykhaylo Mudryk..
The Blues acted quickly to hijack Arsenal’s deal for the Shakhtar Donetsk player, agreeing to a fee of around £62 million plus add-ons that could bring the total fee to around £88 million.
Throughout the transfer window, Arsenal appeared to be the frontrunners to sign Mudryk, having made two bids for the player. However, both of these bids were lower than the player’s club’s valuation of him.
But, before Arsenal could counter with a more substantial offer, Chelsea’s new owners acted quickly to seize control of the transfer, outmaneuvering Arsenal and securing Mudryk’s signing..
The Athletic reported on Saturday that talks between the two clubs are underway, with a seven-year contract being discussed.
Since then, both Shakhtar and Chelsea have used social media to confirm the transfer.
