GRAHAM POTTER has defended Marc Cucurella after he was booed off the field by Chelsea fans against West Ham..

The left-back was replaced by Ben Chilwell in the second half as the Blues looked for a winner.

And his departure was met with boos from the travelling Blues fans, some of whom have grown tired of the Spanaird’s poor record.

However, several Chelsea fans thought Cucurella’s treatment was severe.

They responded on social media, stating that fans should never boo one of their own players.

“He’s been bad,” one supporter stated. Some of it, in my opinion, is due to instructions.

In any case, booing on your own like this is sad.”

“It’s embarrassing booing your own guys,” said another..

Another added: “It’s just heartbreaking. It’s fine to criticize players or coaches, but that kind of nonsense is completely disrespectful.

“This is also where I’d like to see Potter passionately defend his players. This type of behavior is neither essential nor beneficial. The opposite effect is achieved.”

“Let’s get a banner going to show Cucurella our support,” said another.

Graham Potter, too, denounced the boo boys and advocated for greater empathy.

“They are human beings with private lives, Marc isn’t the only one,” he stated after the game..

“You understand the supporters [of Cucurella’s criticism], they pay the money.

“But you have to cope with some issues. He’s fine, he’s going about his business, and he’s aware that he’s not in peak physical condition.
