Ben Chilwell Discusses The Chelsea Dressing Room Amid Graham Potter Sack Speculation

Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell has admitted the Blues’ recent run of form has simply been ‘not good enough’..

Graham Potter’s team lost 1-0 to relegation-threatened Southampton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, with James Ward-goal Prowse’s the only difference between the two teams.

Having also lost by the same scoreline in their UEFA Champions League round-of-16 first-leg tie with Borussia Dortmund in midweek, manager Potter is under intense scrutiny after spending over £300 million in the recent January transfer window.

Chilwell, facing the fact that his recent performances have been subpar, reflected on the defeat to club media, saying: “Again, not good enough..

I can stand here and say we created chances, as I did in Dortmund, but it doesn’t really mean anything. We need to win these games.

“We need to work hard because the dressing room is currently pretty flat. It’s difficult to get into it in terms of what we did right and wrong today, but we have time until our next game to work hard.

“It is easy to say, but we really do need to work hard and turn this around, and the only people who can do that are ourselves.

It’s never nice for a highly competitive group that wants to win..

Some of us won major trophies a few years ago, so being in this situation now does not feel good. It’s understandable that the fans are upset. They expect Chelsea to win, which we do as well.”
