Manchester United has issued a statement in response to Cristiano Ronaldo’s seismic interview, in which he stated that he felt “betrayed” by the club..
Ronaldo slammed the club, Erik ten Hag, and former caretaker manager Ralf Rangnick in a 90-minute interview with Piers Morgan, which will be released in full on Wednesday.
The 37-year-old stated that he had “no respect” for Ten Hag and had “never heard of” his predecessor Rangnick, claiming that the club had made no progress since Alex Ferguson’s departure in 2013.
Ronaldo’s remarks come ahead of the World Cup in Qatar, with United not playing again in the Premier League until Boxing Day, and they will take their time deciding the appropriate action..
According to the statement: “Manchester United takes note of the media coverage of Cristiano Ronaldo’s interview.
“The club will consider its response once all of the facts are known.
“Our focus remains on preparing for the second half of the season and maintaining the momentum, belief, and unity that the players, manager, staff, and fans have built.”
Ronaldo has appeared in 16 games for Manchester United this season, 10 of which have been starts, scoring three goals and registering two assists..
He has, however, only scored once in the Premier League this season, coming off the bench against Everton on October 9 to score the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory..
